I don’t know about you guys, but I’m a huge fan of super simple recipes that don’t take a lot of time or effort. It’s definitely a bonus when that super simple recipe makes a great finger food for parties!
This bacon wrapped weenies recipe is so simple, it’s almost silly to call it a recipe! There’s only two ingredients needed: bacon and cocktail weenies.
These little weenies make a delicious low carb keto appetizer or snack. They’re great for sharing, or make a batch and store for later. These re-heat well in the microwave!
Gather Ingredients and Prep
You’ll need a pack of bacon and a pack of cocktail weenies. I like to use the Hillshire Farms Lit’l Smokies beef weenies, but any brand or flavor will work. I’ve used the cheese filled weenies they make, and those worked really well for this recipe too!
Grab a handful of bacon from the pack and cut the slices into thirds. It’s easiest to cut them if you keep the bacon stacked on each other, just as it’s laying in the pack.
Prep a large rimmed sheet pan. Line the pan with tin foil and spray with non-stick spray, oil, or slather with butter. It doesn’t matter what you use, we just need something on there to prevent the bacon from sticking to the foil.
Note that it’s important to use a sheet pan with a rim to contain the grease as they cook. It doesn’t have to be a super tall rim – just don’t use a flat cookie sheet pan.
Pre-heat your oven to 425⁰ F
Make the Bacon Wrapped Weenies
Now take a cocktail weenie, place it on one end of the bacon, and roll it until you reach the end of the bacon. Place the rolled bacon weenie on the pan.
Continue the process of rolling the weenies in a strip of bacon and placing on the pan until you’re out of weenies.
When you place the weenies on the pan, leave a small amount of space between each weenie. This will prevent the bacon from cooking to each other and sticking together.
Cook the Bacon Wrapped Weenies
Once your oven is done pre-heating, place the pan of weenies on the middle rack in the oven. Bake for 20-25 minutes. Cook time seems to vary based on how fatty the bacon is.
Check at the 20 minute mark. Cook for additional time if the bacon isn’t fully cooked. The weenies are done when the bacon is fully cooked and browned. You can cook them a bit longer if you like super crispy bacon.
Dry the Bacon Wrapped Weenies
After they finish cooking, remove the weenies from the oven. Be careful – there will be very hot grease in the pan!
Transfer the bacon wrapped weenies from the pan to paper towels. This is to soak off the excess grease.
Pat the weenies with a paper towel to dry them and remove any remaining grease.
Serve and Enjoy
Now transfer the bacon wrapped weenies to a serving plate. Serve while they’re hot and enjoy!
These are delicious by themselves, but you can serve these with a dipping sauce too. I liked to eat them plain or dip them in ranch with a few drops of sriracha in it. They’re also good with queso cheese dip!
