Bacon chips are probably one of the simplest “chip” options available for low carb and keto diets. They take just a few minutes to make and they’re super yummy in a ton of different dips!

Plus, they’re bacon! Who doesn’t love bacon, right?!

The fastest and easiest way to make these tasty bacon chips is to microwave them. All you need is a nice, big square ceramic platter, some paper towels, and some bacon.

So let’s get right down to it, cuz I know you’re ready to dig in to some delicious bacon chips!

Grab Your Bacon and Prepare!

large square ceramic plate

Grab your ceramic platter (this is the one I have) and put paper towels on it. I do three layers of paper towels to help soak up the excess grease.

Take 6 strips of bacon from the pack, but leave them stacked together. It’s easier to cut them in a bunch rather than individual pieces. Then cut the bacon into small pieces – but not too small!

cut bacon on paper towel lined plate

I usually go with cutting the strips into thirds or quarters, depending on how long the bacon strips are. Basically you want a square-ish shape. Keep in mind the bacon will shrink a bit as it cook!

Now separate your cut bacon squares and place them in singles on the paper toweled plate. Leave a bit of space in between each piece so that they don’t stick together while cooking.

Cover the bacon with one layer of paper towels. Now you’re ready to cook! Put the platter in the microwave and cook on high until it’s done.

Cook Your Bacon Chips!

Cook time varies for each microwave. For my microwave, the bacon generally cooks for 1 minute less than the total number of strips of bacon. I can fit 6 full slices of bacon on the plate at once, so I start with a cook time of 5 minutes and then check it. If the bacon isn’t done, rotate the plate in the microwave and cook in 1 minute intervals.

Something to note – this square platter may not turn on the turntable (if your microwave has one) because the square edges hit the sides of the microwave. This happens in mine, so I just turn the turntable off and rotate the plate after the first 5 minute cook time.

Once the bacon chips are fully cooked, carefully remove the platter from the microwave. Then transfer the bacon chips onto a paper towel to soak any excess grease off of them.

Repeat for the Whole Pack

Repeat this process until you run out of bacon in the pack! It’s best to change out the paper towels on the platter in between each new batch. They get pretty greasy after just one use.

Feel free to make as many bacon chips as you want – just one batch or use the whole pack of bacon! I usually cook the whole pack of bacon because they’re super easy to store for later if there’s any left!

Plate Up and Serve

Ok, so the bacon chips are done! All that’s left is to put them on a plate and serve them up with a delicious dip!

These are great for dipping in so many different things! I love them dipped into cheese queso, guacamole, and my keto spinach dip!
